Scope
The Operations Manager has overall responsibility for performance of the inside sales and warehouse teams, as well as reception. This role is accountable for service quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness by controlling expenses, ensuring customer service levels are met and achieving sales and profits as outlined in annual budgets. The Operations Manager is also responsible for maintaining inventories at efficient levels which are sufficient to support customers' on-time delivery requirements.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • - Development, implementation and maintenance of sound operations management principles, practices and procedures, including documentation and revision as necessary. Ensure Company policies, procedures & practices are complied with.
  • Customer Service: Interface with existing customers to secure continuing sales and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Inventory: Manages inventories efficiently and effectively so that "Inventory Turns" are a minimum of target, obsolete stock is disposed of on a regular basis, top moving items are in adequate supply using min/max inventory management processes, reduce slow-moving items, and restocking patterns continually evolve with customers changing requirements.
  • Staff:Supervises and manages inside sales/reception and warehouse staff. Motivates and leads by communicating objectives and expectations, by providing positive feedback on a continual basis, by setting a proactive and positive example, and by ensuring accountability for achieving results.
  • Manages the pricing function to achieve margin expectations, ensuring flexibility in gaining large volume and/or new customer accounts.
  • Assist with preparation of budget forecasts and targets for senior management. Provide feedback and recommendations on new products, services
  • Manage branch expenses and ensure administration and management related functions of the branch are conducted in a timely and professional manner
  • Conducts other activities and initiatives as required/assigned by the Regional Vice President

Qualifications

  • College/University diploma/degree in business management or equivalent industry experience
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in management and sales development
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation (provincial and federal)
  • Results and service oriented with a strong attention to detail
  • Trouble-shooting and analytical/systematic thinking skills
  • Good motivational, communication and leadership skills
  • Computer literate (Excel, Word, Outlook), Inventory Database experience would be an asset
  • Warehouse and distribution experience required
